Sports day!

Sparsh had been preparing hard for the Sports Day at school and the results were obvious when all proud parents clapped in unison on the splendid show put up by the young ones! He also got the best advise from his favorite Doctor aunty that "participation is more important than winning" !

I hope he grows up to be as great a sportsman as his father was in college :-) !

Fancy Dress!

So it was fancy dress time at school again and this time the theme was "community helpers". We deliberated over a lot of roles and then zeroed down on "Policeman" partially because of the availability of costume and also because of Sparsh's slight interest in guns.

The dude looked cute in the attire and now he firmly wants to become a policeman when he grows up!

The independence in field trips!

I am glad that Sparsh is very fond of his playschool. he likes his sense of independence and was simply overjoyed about the recent school field trips to a Nursery, Aeronautics Museum and a Fire Station. The excitement stayed for days and he is now an authority on plants, air-crafts and fire-brigades :-)

Doraemon!

Finally...Doraemon has captured our living room too! That damn thing plays on TV the whole day long and my lil boy who used to hate watching TV has suddenly become a big fan of this twenty second century cat!

But let me tell you..I like watching the episodes too..kind of a stress-buster for me as well..only if Nobita cried a lil less :-).

Nose Job!

Nose Job..but of a different kind! So the little genius was playing with my mother's "Churan golis" and was perfectly fine. Suddenly I saw a green discharge from his nose. A totally alarmed me looked at it closely and was shocked to notice that it smelled like churan. Sparsh got scared looking at my expression and immediately started pretending that he is asleep and not aware of anything that he has done to his nose.

It was close to 11pm and my father made some frantic calls to the ENTs that he knew but none was available at that hour. Finally I myself tried to push that big churan goli out of his nose by applying slight pressure. The goli was out after 20 minutes, but thru those 20 minutes I felt like I was operating a major surgery in the OT. And the lil genius was back to jumping right after the goli was out!

Jab aap chote bachche the!

So...Sparsh has a fair good remembrance of the things that have happened in the last one year if his life. And the way he refers to a thing from the past is- " jab aap chote the na tab aisa hota tha" instead of saying that "jab main chota tha!".

It sounds really funny when he tries telling that to my 78 year old grandmother...something like.." jab aap choti thi na to main aap ke saath mandir jaata tha!"

1. Saiyan..nainon kibaten samjhen na....
2. Thandi hawa..kaali ghata...
3. Bade achche lagte hain..ye dharti

True Indian!

Sparsh's enthusiasm about Independence was such a pleasant sight. Thanks to the pre-school he has started recognizing the Indian flag and can sing "Hum honge kamyab" with lil bit of prompting :-)

He dressed in white for Independence day celebration at school and enjoyed the motichoor ladoos!

McDonalds!

We were told that Mcdonalds' logo is the first logo most toddlers recogonized. Soon we got a live demo. Sparsh not only recognizes the logo he has become extremely fond of french fries. So much so that on our recent trip toLadakh he would call for the waiters on his own and ask them to serve him mcdonalds. When the waiters looked at him in surprise he would explain- "french fries!".

Rhyme time

Sparsh has finally started liking rhymes and can sing quite a few now. He seems to like Baa Baa black sheep in particular! They sing a song in school just before its time to go home which goes like- " School is over, go home now! Come to me tomorrow...."...Sparsh keeps singing it thru the day!

De Ghuma Ke!

Yes, he is as much an Indian as all the young and old followrs of cricket as a relegion. My little boy could sense the excitement in the air for bothe the semifinal and final matches. It was a please watching him jump on the bed shouting "India! India!" everytime we got a six or a wicket :-)

Yesterday while the final was on I also heard him humming "De Ghuma ke!"....muaaaah... to my Tendulkar in making :-)

Kitchen King!

Sparsh likes to spend time in the kitchen! Obviously not cooking...but chatting with me, our cook, his numerous nanis in my parents joing family, etc.!

Now that he speaks well, he can name most things associated with cooking and likes to play with his new 'kitchen-set" which I must say is a far cry from the basic one I had as a child.

I would encourage him to spend some time in kitchen every now and then for the benefit of his future partner :-)

Fears!

New found fears! I had read that that I would have to deal with the anyday soon..and hola..here they come. Sparsh is scared of strange things..for example..a moving calendar...insects...reflections...etc.. I want to hug him tight and tell hi that nothing will happen to him..Mumy is there..but I also want him to understand that he is strong by himself and should not be so scared of all this non-sense...he is still such a small baby :-)

Happy Holi ( 2011)

Sparsh is just the right age to understand the concept of Holi and he is having fun. Last night when we went to the common park for "Holi Dahan" he said that the Holi was a fire god and got scare of it. But he like wishing "happy holi" to everybody he met there.

But he had more fun this morning with colours and water....he was struggling to use his water gun at times but was still happy with the fact that he has been allowed to splash water anywhere and anywhere because it is Holi!

Delhi Diaries

We are back home after 4 weeks at Delhi ( my mother was admitted in AIIIMS for all this while). It was a whole new experience for Sparsh considering I used to spend more than half of my day at the hospital and he was left at home in the company of relatives he had not met before. He found a new friend in dear Anagh ( my 10 year old cousin )who became his dear Anagh bahi within 2-3 days.

He also discovered the deer park and loved feeding greens to the deers!

Momos was another discovery for him, though he disliked them, same as I do!

And he wil recogonize the AIIIms landmark forever!

But, we are glad to be back home!

God - nani ko thik kar do!

My mother had a sudden kidney failure post some medical negligience and was in hospital for almost a month. I dont want to remember anything about those hellish days, except the prayers my little boy made at every big and small temple he saw while commuting between hospital and home many times a day.

My mother still believes that it is only his prayers that got him back.....I trust more strongly in the power of prayers now!

Hamara Ghar

Today, Sparsh and I were looking at a picture of my parents in my father's facebook profile. The shot was taken in the balcony of our apartment in bangalore. He got so excited when he saw the pic and said - "Hamara Ghar" :-) :-):-)

Annual school-family picnic

We had so much fun with a dozen toddlers with their parents during the apple kids annual family picnic.
Sparsh was at ease in the presence of his caretakers..I could really sense that he is the darling of apple kids.

It was our first journey in a sleeper bus and we loved the concept...Children had fun climbing up and down the seats :-)

the highlight of the trip were the swimming pool and various rides at the resort...kids surely had a blast.

Driving feedback

Now that I have become more confident about driving, I take Sparsh out on my own, though not very far yet. I think he has sensed my nervousness in the past and come to the conclusion that he is not in safe hands! Every few minutes while I am driving he keeps telling me- "aise nahin mummy", "idhar dekho", "breaker"!

My little driving coach :-).

learning to associate- jaisa, wala

Somethimes I can see a little boy in my baby already. I am so happy to see him associate things to one another and make more sense out of what he hears. I know he understands the concept of similar, coz he has started using the word- "jaisa" or "same-to-same" very often when he sees two similar things.

I think he understands the concept of whom a things belongs to too, coz again he uses the word "wala" when he wants to say that this belongs to somebody like- "papa wala soap"!

I am looking forward to a full fledged conversation with him!

hand-foot-mouth!

What a disease! probably the worst thing to happen to a toddler.
So, Sparsh was finally diagnosed with hand-foot-mouth disease. he has tiny blisters all over his hands, foot and throat, some near the lips too. It is painful for him to do anything- walk, talk, swallow, drink, play :-(.
I read that it is pretty common in children who go to day care centres...and again felt guilty about leaving my child in one to pursue my career!
anyways, he is on the road to recovery and I hope this never happens again.

Midnight scare

Sparsh was dull thru the day. Hubby was out of the country. It was sunday ( read, no doctors available). I am not very confident while driving in Bangalore.
Butit took a midnight scare with Sparsh having high degree fever and rashes all over his body for me to jump out of the bed, pull the car out and rush to the nearest medical store to get the required medicines for him. I did not rememebr my driving nervousness for a moment....thank god I knew lil bit driving..came handy in time of need.

The Special cake!

When it was time to order a cake for Sparsh's second birthday party we were in unison that we want a cake with an "auto-rickshaw' on it..considering Sparsh's eternal love for autos! But for the lack of a cake-worthy auto picture, Biswarup created a collage of all the vehicles that Sparsh could identify and we got a photo cake done for that collage. Our effort paid off when sparsh recogonized the auto immediately!

The Dude turns two!

Sparsh had a nice day with celebrations at school and at home and seeking God's blessings. I wish you all the happiness by little boy....love you hamesh!

Bring On Terrible Twos :-)

Scribbling on my wall,

Toys up and down the hall,

Jumping on the bed,

Always running ahead!

Wants to walk in dad’s shoes,

Fuss over every small bruise,

Dressing, bathing, everything is a “NO”,

Until my anger starts to show!

When he wants something he really acts cute,

Else he invites one of those little fits!

He tells me NO when I say it's time to sleep,

And wants to go out to see car and jeep!

Everyone says it's a natural thing he's going through,

But I swear I don't know what I'm going to do!

These terrible two's are going to kill me!

I guess I'll just hope it gets better when he's three!

Sparsh's first bike ride with mummy

We have been hoping for this for a long time  ever since Sparsh had a small fall when he tried to get down from the moving scooter). And finally, Sparsh rode with me on the scooter for the very first time. He liked it so much that I had to take him for almost 10 rounds around our apartment complex :-). We also had a short trip to Total mall on the scooter.

I think the good times have just begun and we would have more mom-son bonding outings now :-)!!!!

waiting for papa

Last night was the first time that Biswarup was out of town since Sparsh has started speaking.

My little baby kept waiting for papa to come home :-(. For anything that I asked him to do like eat, sleep, etc. his response was- "papa aane baad"!

He finally slept at arnd 11:30pm still waiting for papa.

Flavours and textures

I always knew that Sparsh can recogonize flavours and textures and therefore has his own likes and dislikes. I have started getting verbal conformations when he tastes outside foods like shakes, sundaes, some starters and can nicely identify them as- banana shake, cake (in sundae), kaju, etc.

SuperMam

Sparsh's class- teacher's name is Suparna and he prefers to call her "Suparmam". Cute..isnt it!?

Sparsh and grammer

Sparsh has started making small sentences and I think he is getting his first lesson in grammer. For example he said- " Didi is hansing"...when he wanted to say that his baby sitter is laughing :-)
